WASHINGTON – Three officers got bullet wounds and a fourth person with minor injuries was involved in the gun attack at Washington in the early morning on Wednesday, which believed that the cartridges were fired by the cruel animal abuser, the Police said.
Cops who were in the course of the wounds were continuously treated at a hospital in the capital of the country this morning, the said department of the Metropolitan Police. The fourth is hurt at the scene, too, but not shot, as reported by Associated Press.
The shooter stayed walled up inside a house in the southeast area of the city long after the police hostility while a representative of the police department reported the incident.
Standoff Unfolds in Southeast Washington
The suspect would not come out of the house when officers tried to arrest him on an animal cruelty warrant, according to the Police. The shooter started the fire as Police attempted to enter.
The three policemen were wounded in the hand and foot, according to Pamela Smith, chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, as reported by Associated Press.
“This remains an active situation, and the individual has continued to fire from that location,” she said.
Active Situation Persists
Crisis negotiators were holding a conversation with the suspect while Smith was asking the Senate to pass an amendment that would better punish offenders of gun-related issues in Washington, D.C.
The police union acknowledged that it experienced two of its staff getting wounded.
As the south-eastern part of the city’s roads shut down and the schools there were locked down, Police warned that people should stay away from the area, and they could follow the ongoing events as this shooting took place.
City Grapples with Rising Crime Rates
The accident occurred at a time when the District of Columbia was experiencing dramatic hikes in violent crime, with citizens reporting being victims 39% more often during the year 2023. It was fueled mainly by a 35 percent growth in the homicide rate and the incidents of carjacking, which grew over five times, as reported by Associated Press.
