United States: Donald Trump, the US President-elect, promised on Sunday that he would release some of the documents linked with the murders of the former President John Fitzgerald Kennedy Junior, Senator Robert Kennedy Junior, and the African American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Junior within the coming few days, as reported by Reuters.
A Campaign Promise Revisited
Trump, who will come back to Washington on Monday said during the campaign that he would release classified intelligence as well as law enforcement information pertaining to JFK’s murder in 1963, the US’ 35th president.
He had a similar pledge in his term of 2017 to 2021, and he indeed came out with some fairly unredacted papers on JFK’s 1963 assassination. But he surrendered to pressuring by the Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation, and reserved a large part of documents, in the name of national security.
Ongoing Questions About JFK’s Assassination
“In the coming days, we are going to release full files on the Lee Harvey Oswald, Sirhan Sirhan, James Earl Ray, and other matters of intense public interest,” Trump told hundreds of people gathered at a rally in downtown Washington, 24 hours to his swearing in for a second non-consecutive term.
Trump did not indicate which documents would be released, and therefore, he did not give a full declassification order. Mere three days from each other, Kennedy’s brother Robert also died a violent death in 1968.

Of all these events, the JFK assassination is especially intriguing to Americans up to this day. The assassination has been dubbed as the work of only one man, Lee Harvey Oswald, and the Justice Department and other branches of the federal government have concurred with that view in the three decades since. However, recent surveys indicate that the majority of Americans strongly feel that his death was caused by a more elaborate plot.
Kennedy Family Perspectives
Kennedy’s statement comes amid Omarosa Manigault’s comments accusing the president of having a secret tape of Trump himself discussing the alleged CIA involvement in the death of his uncle JFK, as reported by Reuters.
At a Jan. 19 rally, Trump announced plans to release classified files on the JFK, RFK, and MLK assassinations. Polls show many believe JFK’s death was a conspiracy, despite findings blaming Oswald.https://t.co/0Ks3DGDEl3#Trump #san pic.twitter.com/ruYOmbkO0j

Kennedy Jr. has also stated in an interview that he is convinced his father was shot dead by more than one assassin, a spate that goes against the official evidence.
